What is Bodywork?

Bodywork is a therapeutic type of massage therapy that helps with relieving pain, reducing anxiety and stress, along with bringing a sense of spiritual balance back to the body. It involves the use of several forms of therapy which include breathing techniques through Yoga and respiratory therapy. For the centering and spiritual balance there are the Structural Integration (Rolfing), Trager therapy, Continuum, and Feldenkrais methods. The last two types involve usage of voice, dance therapy and movement.  The most popular massage type, deep tissue massage therapy, and it focuses on relieving pain, relaxing the muscles, and improving fluid flow in various parts of the body.

What is Structural Integration/Rolfing?

Rolfing is a type of therapy that focuses on the soft tissues of the body (fascia and connective tissue) to release the posture from its imbalances. This therapy is also known all over the world as Rolfing Structural Integration or Rolfing therapy.

Rolfing helps with improving posture, realigning and balancing the entire body. It also helps with rebuilding the mobility and overall movement in the body. Structural Integration/Rolfing assists in relieving pain from a variety of health issues such as repetition motion injuries, back pain, musculoskeletal pain and trauma. This type of therapy can be used with other physical therapies such as yoga, pilates, physical therapy, and other wellness programs.

What is Trager Therapy?

Trager therapy is a type of method that focuses on the movement between the body and the mind. The focus is on table work which normally lasts from 60-90 minutes. The movements of the body are natural and not forced, so it is important for the massage to go with the natural flow.

The Trager therapy approach is focused on relieving deep physical and mental health routine patterns. It is good to help with healing sciatica nerve pain, back pain, multiple sclerosis, chronic spinal pain, physiological health conditions, relieves stress, tension, and anxiety disorders. The focus is to ultimately bring the body to complete relaxation and a state of stability.

The goal of Trager therapy is to release the body and mind of the traumatic experiences that the person has gone through. When this is completely released, it helps the body reach a point of healing and gain back its strength.

What is Deep tissue massage therapy?

Deep tissue massage therapy that is focuses on relieving chronic pain disorders, stress, anxiety, and injuries. It is known for providing tension release that will untangle the knots in the muscles, bringing relaxing and oneness with the body and spiritual well-being.  The massage therapist will apply deep pressure against the muscles to help rid the body of toxins that have taken up hostage in the body which causes massive destructive behavior. There may be some residual pain after the deep tissue massage session however it will take several days for this to subside. It takes a little bit of time for the muscles to recover from what was done during the massage therapy session.
