CSW Facial Rejuvenation Series part I

22nd June 2008

The first phase of the Center for Structural Wellness Facial Rejuvenation series focuses on the deep structures of the face (viscerocranium), cranium (cranial vault), neck and shoulders. By opening the layered sutures (the connective tissue joints of the cranial bones) through deep, slow fascial manipulation, the client’s asymmetries can be reduced and the face can appear more even and symmetrical. This work travels deep into the inner lining of the head to reduce any cranial torsions as an added bonus.

Cranial Vault:
cranial
The facial bones will begin to relax back to balance, unwinding deep patterns from trauma, inflammation, and deep bracing patterns from elsewhere in the body and the face will appear more full. The body primarily wants to orient the eyes and ears on the horizontal plane to keep a balance point. If this cannot happen due to body and facial asymmetries – the head/neck balance will twist to make this happen, and overall shoulder – neck – head alignment can get extremely disrupted. This will be aligned as best as possible in this part of the series.
Sphenoid, Ethmoid, Eye Alignment:
sphenoid

Technicals:
The first cervical vertebrae (C1) is known as the Atlas, and this bone will mimic the movement of the sphenoid bone (the butterfly shaped bone behind the eyes and face). This occurs as both bones counterrotate to the occiput. The mandible must match C1 as the enveloping fascia makes this easiest to occur. This ends up looking like one side of the face is longer then the other. Many people suffer from TMJ syndrome in this case.
Pterygoids

The eye that is on the short side of the face will actually protrude slightly outward from the compressive forces in the orbital socket. There will be a general tighteness in the temporalis muscle, masseter muscle and medial pterygoid muscle on the short side whilst the long side will have tension in the lateral pterygoid muscle and digastric muscle primarily. These primary movers need to be rebalanced and the secondary relationships will be eased within all the soft tissue of the area. This cranial work is only available at the Center for Structural Wellness.

The Super-Deluxe Series:
This part of the 15 session series consists of 3 sessions to unwind the deep cranial structures. Integrated alongside this treatment are 5 sessions of the zen acupressure massage facial and 7 sessions of the acupuncture face lift. All 3 modalities synergistically enhance each other to create the most comprehensive non-invasive facial rejuvenation. Coupled with the 5 series of nutrition and detox counseling we guarantee amazing results. The full series costs $4000 and takes 4 to 6 weeks. We have customizable shorter, less expensive programs for those with time and financial constraints.

The Deluxe Series:

Facial

The 2nd part of the Center for Structural Wellness Facial Rejuvenation series is a massage that is an ancient Chinese medicinal therapy aimed at increasing the health, vitality and aesthetic appearance of the face. It is perfect for those looking to maintain the health of their appearance without degenerative effects of botulinum toxin type A (Botox) and surgery. The core of the treatment is a comprehensive face, head and neck acupressure massage with a specific focus on meridians and pressure points that rejuvenate the face.

Muscles of the face that benefit from the lifting nature of this massage:
face muscles

This treatment is different from traditional facial treatments in that it goes well beyond skin deep. The treatment tones, cleanses and nourishes the underlying musculature of the face in a way that no other treatment can match. In addition, the massage is coupled with the application of a Chinese herb infused creams and a facial mask. Gua Sha is used to help iron out the deep connective tissue wrinkles that exist on our face with a safely harvested Ram’s horn. Results can be noticed immediately but a series of 3 to 7 treatments is recommended. This treatment is exclusively offered at the Center for Structural Wellness as part of a series that also combines Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation and face and cranial Structural Integration that the goal is to make your face as healthy as possible. This therapy is performed on a massage table with the client wearing loose fitting clothing.

Karden Rabin, LMT, will be available for this treatment at 201.207.9910. He is available Monday - Wednesday at 80 East 11th, Suite 242, NY, NY, 10003 at the Center for Structural Wellness main office.

CSW Facial Rejuvenation Series part III

For anyone who wants to look younger but wants an alternative to botox, restalyne, juvaderm or a surgical facelift - we here at the Center for Structural Wellness (CSW) have heard your cries for help. We have a new 4-part series that combines the best of the Acupuncture face lift, Zen Acupressure massage facial rejuvenation, Cranial Balancing, and a nutritional and detox program to keep you looking and feeling your youngest.

This will be a 4 part blog. Kate Henderson’s, LAc., treatment protocol involves 3 to 7 sessions of her Acupuncture face-lift. Here is the full description of what she adds to the Deluxe Facial Rejuvenation package at the CSW. Costs vary from $800 - $4000.

Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation: A Gentle and Effective Alternative

Also known as Cosmetic Acupuncture, Facial Rejuvenation acupuncture is a non-surgical and side-effect free method of reducing the signs of the aging. Based on the principles of Chinese Medicine, it supports the whole body and can help to make you look and feel younger by addressing the physical, mental and emotional patterns that cause disease and contribute to the aging process.

Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture reduces fine lines, wrinkles, puffiness, sagging and discoloration of the face while simultaneously supporting overall health. Fine lines may be eliminated and deeper wrinkles reduced. Bags under the eyes can be diminished; drooping eyelids, brow lines, sagging jowls and double chins lifted. It helps to eliminate puffiness by eliminating excess fluids and improving metabolism. Many people report that their appearance shows a natural, subtle and radiant improvement that makes them appear younger by five to fifteen years.

Treatments tighten pores, improve muscle tone and dermal contraction, increase collagen production and affect its distribution. Moisture in the skin and evenness of skin color will be balanced by increasing local circulation of blood and lymph to the face.

Most importantly, Facial Rejuvenation acupuncture brings a natural look of radiance, as opposed to a temporary and abrupt change with Botox, Restylane or a surgical facelift. Though Facial Rejuvenation acupuncture can sometimes be referred to as an “Acupuncture Facelift,” it is more than just a cosmetic procedure. You are being treated from the inside out, and can expect other positive improvements to your general feeling of well-being as well as an improved appearance.

Each treatment involves the insertion of tiny acupuncture needles into specific areas of the face, ears, neck, hands, feet, and legs to affect changes in the face as well as the whole body. On your first visit, we discuss your overall health history, including any physical, mental or emotional issues in your life that you feel you want to work on. We will evaluate what changes you would like to see in your face and skin, and then you receive an acupuncture treatment. The needles are inserted while you are relaxing and lying down on a massage table. Once the needles are in, you rest for 20-30 minutes. In general, the treatments are very relaxing and take about 1 ½ hours. The treatment is concluded with a facial massage using gentle, high quality essential oils to support the improvement of skin quality.

If you are aging in a way that looks and feels unhealthy then it is possible that there is a fundamental, constitutional imbalance that is causing you to show a more tired, aged appearance. On a physiological level, acupuncture has been shown to increase circulation of blood and lymph throughout the body. Increased blood flow can balance out skin color and can help to maintain healthy skin and muscle tone. By increasing lymph flow, buildup of toxins in the skin can be eliminated by the body. Acupuncture has also been proven to strengthen the immune system, and our skin is an essential part of our immune system. The needles inserted into the face affect collagen and elastin production and its dispersal. Collagen is a protein produced by our bodies that is responsible for our skin’s durability and resilience. Elastin is responsible for the elasticity of our skin. Sun exposure and aging degrade and decrease the production of our collagen and elastin. Acupuncture helps to stimulate the body’s natural processes of cell reproduction and growth.

Each Facial Rejuvenation acupuncture treatment is individualized according to how each person is aging. No two people receive the same treatments because each person’s constitution and aging process is unique. Acupuncture points are chosen based on an individualized basis according to the principles of Chinese medicine.

Throughout treatment, other physical symptoms you may be experiencing will also improve. Treatments can improve hormonal balance and help to diminish menopausal symptoms. You may notice you have a better quality of sleep and increased energy. It will improve your digestion and metabolism and strengthen your immune system. You can also address and treat any chronic or recurring pain.

CSW Facial Rejuvenation Series part IV

21st June 2008

detox
At the Center for Structural Wellness we feel that nutrition is vital to looking young and feeling healthy. Within the realm of feeding and nurturing the body, detox is quintessential to the process of purifying the body. Jeanette Bronee, HHC has come aboard the CSW with her Path For Life nutrition program offering a 5 series to complement the Deluxe CSW Facial Rejuvenation series.

Why Detox:
When we decide to do a detox it is often when we feel that something is lingering and we want to shed parts of the past that is no longer needed in the present moment - and we do not want to carry it with us going forward but rather want to feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready for a new phase.

During the detox-program this is what you can expect:
You will learn about why to detox and how to get rid of the “left-overs” that are stuck in your system.
You will increase your knowledge about your body’s functions in terms of detoxing and specific actions to take.
You will go through the actual detoxification process in a supported and gentle fashion. Your body, and you, will be cleansing from toxic waste and build up, your energy, skin, wellbeing, and weight will be affected and you will have gained more knowledge about how to take better care of yourself everyday after the detox as well.

The detox will be designed specifically for you.
You will be drinking shakes and have a variety of specific food choices to eat during the detox. A full outline will be provided.

IT IS NOT A FAST. This is not a liquid or juice based detox.
It is a gentle way to allow your body rid itself of the waste that is keeping you feeling heavy, tired, unable to focus, and a general sense of discomfort. A detox leaves you vibrant, full of energy, clear-headed and in case of illness, a longer managed detox can help heal the body from it ailments. A detox is a good practice to help the body reset itself, but even better is a daily detoxing way of life.

The program outline is 5 sessions, including the detox products needed for $1500.

1. Initial health evaluation, review and consultation. - This includes the “induction” into the prestart of the program

2. Consultation to set up for detox program

3. Consultation mid way of the detox-program to follow up and keep in touch and fine-tune as needed.

4. Consultation for “coming off” the detox and setting up for new healthy choices and habits

5. Follow up consultation to see how they are doing and give further guidance

The program is designed, tailored, and supervised for the individual by Jeanette Bronée from Path for Life Self-Nourishment Center and all consultations are either in person or over the phone as desired.
